Now the joyful bells a-ringing,
All ye mountains, praise the Lord,
Lift our hearts like birds a-winging,
All ye mountains, praise the Lord.
Now our festal season, bringing
Kinsmen all, to bide and board,
Sets our cheery voices singing
All ye mountains, praise the Lord.

Cold the year, new whiteness wearing,
All ye mountains, praise the Lord!
Peace, goodwill to us a-bearing,
All ye mountains praise the Lord,
Now we all, God's goodness sharing,
Break the bread and sheath the sword;
Bright our hearths, the signal flaring,
All ye mountains, praise the Lord.

Notes:
Welsh Carol, Words by Mrs K. E. Roberts.

From 'The Oxford Book of Carols'.

According to the Oxford Book of Carols, this is based on the Welsh New Year secular carol 'Nos Galan'; the secular carol 'Deck the Halls' is to the same tune.

A web search came up with these words for 'Nos Galan':

Oer yw'r gwr sy'n methu caru,
Ffa la la la la, la la la la.
Hen fynyddoedd annwyl Cymru,
Ffa la la la la, la la la la.
Iddo ef a'u c¢r gynhesaf
Ffa la la la la la la,
Gwyia llawen flwyddyn nesaf,
Ffa la la la la, la la la la.

I'r helbulus oer yw'r biliau,
Ffa la la la la, la la la la.
Sydd yn dyfod yn y gwyliau,
Ffa la la la la, la la la la.
Gwrando bregeth mewn un pennill,
Ffa la la la la la la.
Byth na waria fwy na'th ennill,
Ffa la la la la, la la la la.

Oer yw'r eira ar Eryri,
Ffa la la la la, la la la la.
Er fod gwrthban gwlanen arni,
Ffa la la la la, la la la la.
Oer yw'r bobol na ofalan',
Ffa la la la la la la.
Gwrdd ¢'i gilydd ar Nos Galan,
Ffa la la la la, la la la la.

It is worth noting what sian wrote, over in Mudcat, before claiming these are the correct words: "Remember, there was / is a tradition of taking a tune and singing a lot of different verses to it, for fun. "
