The bonny pit laddie, the canny pit laddie,
The bonny pit laddie for me, O!
He sits in his hole as black as a coal,
And brings the white siller to me, O!

The bonny pit laddie, the canny pit laddie,
The bonny pit laddie for me, O!
He sits on his cracket and hews in his jacket,
And brings the white siller to me, O!

I have this song on an LP by The High Level Ranters.

I recall more verses than those given above + a chorus,

something like,
'he comes home & gives me all his money-o,
he takes me in his arms & calls me his hinny-o'

If I remember rightly, the version by the High Level Ranters is to a different tune. Can you confirm it one way or the other, Mr H, and if so are you able to transcribe it in some fashion?

Also, I think they do use this tune for something else, but I forget what. Any ideas?
